What is on the clip

A steel door at the bottom of a concrete stairwell, seen from above and to one side. The burned-in timecode reads 12 NOV 1986 21:58:40.

The door is closed. A card reader beside it carries two small stacked indicator lamps, and the lower one is lit.

At six seconds the lower lamp goes out, the upper one lights for two seconds, and the door opens inward. Somebody goes through; only a shoulder and an arm cross the frame edge. The door closes. The lower lamp lights again.

From eight seconds to the end of the clip nothing moves.

At twenty-one seconds a hand enters the top of frame from above the camera — from the stairs, not the corridor — holding a folded cloth. The hand moves toward the lens. The last two seconds of the clip are the cloth filling the frame.

The picture goes. The timecode keeps running on a black frame.
