Demolition surveyor's site note

Folded inside the crown of a hard hat, on a page torn from a site diary:

  Tues. Went down the sub-level stair to check the slab for the charge layout.

  Stair is drawn as one storey on the record drawing. I counted the flights on
  the way down and I counted them again on the way up and I got a different
  number both times. Not by much. By one.

  There is a room down there that is not on the drawing and it has power. I
  could hear a compressor and I could see light under the door, amber, not
  emergency. The building has been disconnected since 1987, I checked with the
  utility myself before we mobilised.

  I am not putting this in the survey because I cannot explain it and I have
  eleven men going in there Thursday.

  Told the office the slab is sound, which it is.

  Going to leave the hat here. If somebody else finds this then somebody else
  went down as well and I would rather they knew.
